Membership

Physicians who either work or live in Rock Island County (Illinois) and have an active medical license are eligible for membership in the Rock Island County Medical Society (RICMS). Members who belong to the RICMS must also join the Illinois State Medical Society. Contact (563) 328-3390 for an application or further information. Download membership form.

Members of the RICMS enjoy the following benefits:

~ RICMS is a well-established resource for people with quality of care concerns. The Quad City Medical Society Office (QCMSO), the administrative office for the Society, handles problem-solving with callers to restore lines of communication between patient and physician, thus preventing simple misunderstandings from escalating into more serious situations. The Society operates a Peer Review Committee to handle serious physician/patient disputes locally.

~ RICMS provides services tailored to address a variety of professional needs including continuing medical education programs offered at regular general membership meetings. Members are always invited to attend events of the Scott County Medical Society (SCMS) at no additional charge. In addition, special seminars are offered for members’ staff needs.

~ RICMS provides a forum for physicians to address concerns with their peers. In conjunction with the SCMS, the two Societies are the only local associations operated by physicians for physicians.

~ RICMS advocates on behalf of Quad City physicians at the local, state, and national levels and maintains close ties with Congressional delegations, state legislators, and the Illinois State Medical Society to advance key goals.

~ RICMS members are featured in a Quad City Times special health section distributed in September. All member names are printed and only member physicians of either the RICMS or the SCMS can submit articles for publication.

~ The QCMSO maintains an online physician directory at www.qcmso.com as a member benefit and a public service to the community.

~ The QCMSO helps people find the right physician through a referral service, and provides information about member physicians’ primary specialties, medical training, and experience.

~ The QCMSO serves as the local resource to the media on health care related issues and works closely with other organizations to help mobilize the medical community in confronting important public health concerns.
